Holistic US National Strategy for Marine Energy Leadership
Summary of the Talk:
United States should adopt a holistic national strategy for marine energy generation and establish Marine Energy Centers of Excellence (US MECOE) in different locations in USA, with its Head Quarters in the Monterey Bay. Energy sources from the ocean are many, with thermal, tidal, wave and algal biomass as some examples. Strategically deployed wireless sensor networks (WSN) in the ocean near and offshore, could routinely provide vital information from planning through installation, operation and maintenance for optimal and economical performance. USA should also set up Marine Energy Business and Industrial Parks (MEBIP) across the nation with Monterey Bay as the head quarters, to manufacture all supply chain and logistics companies, thus creating large employment opportunities at various levels. The US MECOE and MEBIP could export products to the world. The speaker will present key aspects of the strategy to propel USA to world leadership in marine energy generation and management, covering technology, business, energy economy and industrial infrastructure.
